A phase that falls just after midnight ET can land on the previous day out west. For example, the December 2026 full moon is on December 23 at 8:28 p.m. ET, but already December 24 in Europe.
A supermoon is a full moon near perigee, the closest point of the moon's orbit.
In summer 2027 the perigee lines up with the new moon instead: July 3, August 2 and August 31. These "super new moons" bring the strongest tides of the year on the coast, even if you can't see them.
Solunar theory rates the days around new and full moon highest, and stronger still when the moon is near perigee. The bigger tides help saltwater anglers most: see tides and solunar for saltwater fishing, redfish fishing tips and striped bass fishing tips.
Remember the moon is one factor; weather and water temperature often matter more. Read best moon phase for fishing for an honest take.
Phase times are the same everywhere, but moonrise, moonset and the solunar windows depend on where you stand. The Solunar app calculates them offline from your GPS position and shows them on a 24-hour dial with a 1–4 star day rating, so you can turn this calendar into a plan.
